Undergoing a metamorphosis from its mostly greyscale counterpart “Half-Life,” this second piece, like its name suggests– embodies total “Freedom.” Here the bright hues indicate that Patrick has reached his final form and embraced his true nature through his art. His expression is one of ecstasy, self-love, and pure liberation. He has literally “painted life” back into himself and is living on his own terms.

The goal of this piece was to depict a duality between the light and shadow aspects of the mental health journey. “Freedom” aims to fight the stigma of depression and anxiety–emphasizing the joy and personal evolution that can come from something that was once dark and draining. That the darkness can even serve as a gift that guides us towards our true power.
